Things Every Parent
Should Know Before Choosing A Dance Studio
1. Floors/Mirrors/Studio Space
Dance is a very physical activity that
requires movement that can put stress on the bones and joints.
It is important to choose a studio that has appropriate flooring
to take care of the dancers body. Having floors that can absorb the schock on the body is the best way to prevent injury. At our
studio we are able to offer a raised wood floor with a marley
covering. The wood absorbs shock to the dancer and the marley is
accepted worldwide for recreational and professional dance use.
The professional flooring provides dancers with a degree of "controlled slip," so there is less risk of slips and falls. Each room has also contains full length mirrors, running the length of the room, allowing students to correct their technique and performance. These mirrors also have safety features to prevent shattering if cracked. Our spacious studios also give dancers the space to extend their bodies more and leap higher with no
constraints.
2. Quality of Teachers/Class Size
Triple Threat requires teachers to be certified and university trained or to have professional experience. In some studios unprofessional and inexpereinced teachers are allowed to teach class. When this
happens, your child is not receiving the best instruction that
there is to offer. Class sizes are important as well. Some studios
allow such large classes that your child cannot get the
attention they need and deserve. With our limited class sizes
our professional staff can give more personalized attention.
They can teach more, maintain better control and make sure
students understand concepts and instructions, and
ensure that students are not developing bad habits or improper
technique.
3. All Ages/All Levels
At our studio we are able to place your child in a class with students their age and ability, from the beginning student through the advanced student, ages 2 - adult. Many studios offer classes for all ages, but are unable to offer classes for students of all ages and levels.
4. Customer Service
When teachers and owners try
to teach and do the administrative work as well, the classes, students, and parents suffer. The focus
is not always in the classroom where it should be. For you and
your child to have a good experience, it is important to choose a
studio that offers you assistance in any further details like
costumes and schedules. Our studio has office staff on hand to
help you with your immediate needs.
5. Performance
Opportunities and Competition Teams
Most studios have only the year end performance or give students other performance opportunities with competition teams. Students who love to dance, sing, act or play an instrument may feel left out and ignored when competition teams are the only other performance outlet. Our studio offers a "benefit" performance along with other performance opportunities (in the pst we have performed at the Festival of Trees, YMCA's Healthy Family Day, and other events). With our Annual Benefit, most of the students are incorporated to perform at the Dessert Café, to raise money for a local family in need, organization, or cause. Our audience enjoys dessert and coffee while watching the performance. This is a wonderful experience to teach everyone the responsibility of giving to others while having fun in a positive atmosphere.
6. End of Year Performance
Instead of offering only one End of The Year Performance for each student, like most studios, Triple Threat DanCenter allows students ages 9 and up to perform more than one night to build their performance abilities and self-confidence. Each student receives four free tickets for
the End of The Year Performance. Also, it will be clear when
your child performs what they have been learning and improving
on. We have a lot of backstage help to give the parents the opportunity to sit back and enjoy their children on stage, along with
being entertained by a variety filled show.
